Star SP700 and ReceiptKit
The Star SP700 is an impact printer. ReceiptKit prints raster images, so it is not supported today. Here is what that means and which printers to use instead.
Star SP700 compatibility
The Star SP700 (SP712, SP742) is a dot-matrix impact printer built for hot kitchens, where thermal paper would darken. It prints text with a ribbon instead of rasterising an image, which is why ReceiptKit does not support it yet.
Typical use: hot-kitchen order tickets where thermal paper is unsuitable.

Why the Star SP700 is not supported yet
- •ReceiptKit renders every receipt as an image and sends it as raster data. Impact printers do not accept raster jobs, so the SP700 would need a separate text-mode path that we have not built.
- •For a kitchen printer that works today, use a thermal Star mC-Print3 or TSP100IV in a location away from direct heat, or the sticky-paper TSP143IV SK for tickets.

What should I use instead of the Star SP700 for kitchen tickets?
A thermal printer placed away from direct heat works well for most kitchens: the Star mC-Print3, Star TSP100IV, or Epson TM-T88VI are all supported. The Star TSP143IV SK prints on linerless sticky paper for tickets that attach to bags or boxes.
Will ReceiptKit add Star SP700 support?
