How to read this

Tested, expected, or not supported

Every ReceiptKit receipt is rendered on a small bridge next to the printer and written straight to the device in its native command language: StarPRNT, Star Raster, or ESC/POS. A printer marked tested has printed real receipts in our lab on the connections listed. One marked expected speaks the same command language as a tested sibling but has not been in our lab yet. Impact printers are not supported because they do not accept raster data.

Star mC-Print3

The Star mC-Print3 is a compact 80 mm thermal receipt printer with a front paper exit, Ethernet and USB on every model, and Star's modern StarPRNT command language. It is the printer we run in production at Family Hardware and the one we recommend when someone asks what to buy.

The Star mC-Print2 is the 58 mm sibling of the mC-Print3: the same compact front-exit design and the same StarPRNT command language on narrower paper. It shows up in small cafes, kiosks, and delivery counters where a 2-inch receipt is enough.

The Star mPOP combines a 58 mm receipt printer and a cash drawer in one low unit, and is a favourite for tablet POS setups. It speaks StarPRNT like the mC-Print family.

Star TSP100III

The Star TSP100III is the third generation of the best-selling TSP100 futurePRNT family, sold in USB, Wi-Fi (W), Ethernet (LAN), and Bluetooth (BI) variants. It is a raster-only printer: instead of text commands it accepts a bitmap of the receipt, which is exactly how ReceiptKit renders anyway.

Star TSP100II

The Star TSP100II, usually sold as the TSP143II or TSP143ECO, is the USB-only second generation of the TSP100 futurePRNT family and one of the most common receipt printers in small shops. It is raster-only, which suits ReceiptKit's render-then-print design.

The original Star TSP100 futurePRNT (TSP143, TSP113, TSP143GT) is the first-generation raster receipt printer that started the TSP100 line. Many are still in service. It uses the same Star Raster protocol as the TSP100II and TSP100III that we test against.

Star TSP100IV

The Star TSP100IV is the current TSP100 generation and, despite the name, a StarPRNT printer rather than a raster-only one. The SK variant prints on linerless sticky paper for kitchen and delivery labels. It offers USB and Ethernet, with Wi-Fi on some models.

Star TSP650II

The Star TSP650II (sold as the TSP654II) is a fast, workhorse 80 mm receipt printer offered with USB, Ethernet, serial, or parallel interfaces. It uses StarPRNT and is common in higher-volume retail and restaurant counters.

The Star TSP700II (TSP743II) is a heavy-duty 80 mm thermal printer that also handles labels and thicker media, which makes it a frequent kitchen and label printer. It speaks StarPRNT.

Star SP700

Impact printer · 76 mm · Ethernet / USB

The Star SP700 (SP712, SP742) is a dot-matrix impact printer built for hot kitchens, where thermal paper would darken. It prints text with a ribbon instead of rasterising an image, which is why ReceiptKit does not support it yet.

Epson TM-T88VI

The Epson TM-T88VI is the sixth generation of Epson's flagship 80 mm receipt printer and probably the most widely deployed POS printer in the world. It speaks ESC/POS, prints at 180 dpi across 512 dots, and ships with Ethernet and USB on the same unit.

Epson TM-T88VII

The Epson TM-T88VII is the current generation of Epson's flagship 80 mm receipt printer, with faster printing, Ethernet and USB on every unit, and the same ESC/POS command set as its predecessors. It is the printer most new Epson-based POS installs ship with.

Epson TM-T88V

ESC/POS · 80 mm · Ethernet / USB

The Epson TM-T88V was Epson's flagship receipt printer for most of the 2010s and is still installed in huge numbers. It speaks ESC/POS at 512 dots across 80 mm paper and is usually fitted with a USB, Ethernet, or serial interface card.

Epson TM-T88IV

The Epson TM-T88IV is a long-discontinued but still common ESC/POS receipt printer. If yours has a USB or Ethernet interface card, it should print from ReceiptKit like the rest of the TM-T88 line.

Epson TM-T20

The Epson TM-T20 (II and III) is Epson's budget 80 mm receipt printer and one of the most popular choices for small shops. It uses ESC/POS at 576 dots and is sold with USB, Ethernet, or serial interfaces.

Epson TM-m30

The Epson TM-m30 (II and III) is a compact cube-shaped 80 mm receipt printer designed for tablet POS, with Ethernet and USB built in and Bluetooth or Wi-Fi on some models. It speaks ESC/POS at 576 dots.

Epson TM-T70

The Epson TM-T70 (and TM-T70II) is a front-loading 80 mm receipt printer designed to sit under a counter or inside a kiosk. It shares the TM-T88's ESC/POS command set and 512-dot print width.

Epson TM-L90

ESC/POS · 80 mm · Ethernet / USB

The Epson TM-L90 is a thermal printer that handles both receipts and labels, including linerless (LFC) media for kitchen and delivery tickets. It speaks ESC/POS at 576 dots.

Epson TM-U220

Impact printer · 76 mm · Ethernet / USB

The Epson TM-U220 is the most common impact (dot-matrix) kitchen printer. Its ribbon-printed text survives heat and grease where thermal paper darkens. Because it prints text rather than raster images, ReceiptKit does not support it yet.

Most no-name 80 mm thermal receipt printers (POS-80, Xprinter, HOIN, and dozens of white-label brands) run the same ESC/POS firmware families. If yours accepts ESC/POS over USB or Ethernet, it should work with ReceiptKit the way our tested Rongta and Munbyn units do.

If your printer speaks StarPRNT, Star Raster mode, or ESC/POS over USB or Ethernet, there is a good chance it already works: set its model in the bridge to pick the protocol manually. Tell us the model and we will add a guide. Reports from real installs are how printers move from expected to tested.
