Star TSP100 compatibility

The original Star TSP100 futurePRNT (TSP143, TSP113, TSP143GT) is the first-generation raster receipt printer that started the TSP100 line. Many are still in service. It uses the same Star Raster protocol as the TSP100II and TSP100III that we test against.

Typical use: older POS installs at retail counters that still run first-generation TSP100 hardware.

Expected, not yet lab-tested

We have not had a Star TSP100 in our lab. It uses the same Star Raster (futurePRNT) command language we validated end-to-end on the Star TSP100II, so we expect it to work. If you run one, tell us and we will move it to tested.

How it works

Cloud coordination, local printing

ReceiptKit sends a few hundred bytes of order data to a bridge on the printer's network. The bridge renders the receipt and writes Star Raster (futurePRNT) data straight to the Star TSP100, so prints are sub-second even with logos and barcodes.

Do you need a driver for the Star TSP100?

No. The bridge writes to the printer directly over TCP or raw USB, without the operating system print spooler or a vendor driver, on every platform.

Connect the Star TSP100 in three steps

1.Install the free bridge next to the printer

Download the ReceiptKit bridge for Windows or macOS, or flash the Raspberry Pi image. It runs on any machine on the printer's network, or the one it is plugged into. PC setup · Raspberry Pi setup

2.Or plug the Star TSP100 in over USB

Connect the printer to the bridge machine with a USB cable. It appears in the bridge as soon as it is plugged in.

3.Claim it and print a test receipt

Claim the printer in the bridge so it appears in your ReceiptKit dashboard, then send a test print. The bridge selects the Star Raster (futurePRNT) command language and paper width from the model name automatically.

Live status

Cover and paper status from the printer's auto-transmitted ASB frames over USB and Ethernet. The raster family has no status request command, so a quiet connection can show presence-only until the printer volunteers a frame.

  • Not tested in our lab; it shares the Star Raster dialect validated on the TSP143ECO and TSP143IIILAN.

Does ReceiptKit work with the Star TSP100?

New orders and refunds then print automatically on the Star TSP100 as receipts, kitchen tickets, or packing slips using templates you design visually. Orderable and other WooCommerce ordering plugins are supported too.
